A pastoral example of the Mad River Valley community that Elmer planned to serve exists in the Library of Congress.

For anyone who has ever visited the Valley or, certainly, those of us who live here, Mehuron's Supermarket in Waitsfield, is a wonderful establishment.  It's the "go-to" place for everyday and specialty food items and, importantly, the place where you will likely meet your friends and neighbors and get a quick update on all the local happenings!  Last Sunday, Mehuron's celebrated it's 75th year in the Valley with a party open to the public that featured a tent in the parking lot, live music and free food. It was a great event, enjoyed by all!  The article that follows, details the 75 year history of Mehuron's and is filled with fascinating stories, pictures and glimpses of life in the earlier days of the Mad River Valley.  Click on the title above to view the whole story in the Valley Reporter.
